How old is the Begonia Parade?

The Ballarat Begonia Parade is in its 60th year and still going strong!

Where will the 2012 Begonia Parade take place?

The Courier Begonia Parade will travel along Wendouree Parade from the corner of Carlton Street up to the North Gardens precinct. Both sides of the road will be closed to all vehicle traffic allowing the viewing public close access.

When will the 2012 Begonia Parade take place?

On Monday 12 March 2012 at 11am.

Where will the 2012 Begonia Parade marshalling take place?

Begonia Parade entrants/floats are to marshal in Carlton St between Sturt Street and Wendouree Parade and along Wendouree Parade between Morrison Street and Hamilton Avenue. These areas will be available to entrants only, allowing for the loading of heavy equipment and the final assembly of entries if required.  Further information will be forwarded to participating groups closer to Parade day.

Does my group have to pay to enter the Parade?

No The Courier Begonia Parade is a free event to enter and is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your organisation's role and contribution to our community.

What sort of Parade Entry can my group include?

Entries can be purpose-built floats, decorated vehicles and/or simply a massed collection of people marching together. We would love to see you in uniform or group's attire or if you are really adventurous try some larger than life, highly elaborate costumes. We want to make the 2012 Begonia Parade the biggest, most elaborate and spectacular ever with plenty of singing, dancing, noise and an invigorating festival atmosphere.

Are there any restrictions on Businesses entering the Parade?

No, Businesses are welcome to enter The Courier Begonia Parade with the understanding that the Begonia Parade is a community event and the focus is on participation, fun and entertainment and not pure self -promotion.  Please feel free to contact Chatterbox Creative to discuss your ideas for the Parade.

The City of Ballarat and event managers Chatterbox Creative reserve the right to at any time withdraw any float/entry they consider unsuitable or which does not embrace the spirit of the Begonia Parade.

When do applications close?

Applications close on Friday 3 February 2012.

Who is Chatterbox Creative?

Chatterbox Creative is working with the City of Ballarat to coordinate the Parade. We are the primary point of contact for the Parade and are only too happy to support your group in any way we can.
