Ballarat's Crown Jewels
Every year for the past 60 years, the
Begonia Display has been the centrepoint of the Ballarat Begonia
Festival.
With the begonia's jewel-like colours,
this year's display will be themed 'Ballarat's Crown Jewels'.
On entry visitors will walk through the 'Royal Gallery', a link
to the many royal visits the Festival has had during its lifetime,
most notable was a visit from the Queen in 1954. The central
feature is the throne room, where the begonias are displayed en
masse, as well as part of huge sized crowns. The rear courtyard
area will feature a medieval style knot garden flanked by mass
begonias on two sides.
The Begonia Display is located in the Robert Clark Conservatory
and will be on display until mid April. Tickets can be purchased at
the ticket booth outside the Conservatory.
