Driving

Ballarat is situated just over an hour's drive from Melbourne via the Western Freeway. From the Western Freeway take the Gillies Street exit, turn left on to Gillies Street and travel south for 2.3 kilometres, turn left into free car parking.

Train

V/Line runs a number of trains daily to Ballarat and Wendouree from Melbourne's Southern Cross (formerly Spencer Street) Station. Travel time is around one and half hours but with the construction of the fast train network on the Ballarat line this time has been reduced significantly for peak usage trains.

If you are on a service that stops at Wendouree Station then stay on the train until this stop, exit the Wendouree station and walk south along Gillies St (approximately 10mins) to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

If your train stops at Ballarat Railway Station you will need to follow the above bus directions to Lake Wendouree.
