Parent Place

Baby Change and Feeding Facilities.

Located next to the Super Sandpit, Parent Place provides a safe, welcoming and child-friendly space with change and feeding facilities. Run by the City of Ballarat’s Family and Children services staff and supported by a passionate team of volunteers.

Plant Creche

A plant creche will be available in the Gardener’s Market for you to leave your purchased plants while you explore the rest of the festival. Cost: Gold coin

Good To Know

  • Drinking taps are available in the gardens, make sure to bring a refillable bottle and stay hydrated.
  • ATMs available, located outside the conservatory. To avoid queues, bring cash or check with vendors if they take card.
  • Accessible toilets at every toilet location, plus Marveloo (adult change and toilet facility) at North Gardens toilet block.
  • Auslan Interpretation (Sunday only).
  • First Aid located near the Floral Clock entry.
  • The festival is dog friendly, dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
  • The festival is a smoke free event.

Waste Stations

Separation of waste is the key in our aim to achieve a more sustainable festival footprint – and we need your help by doing the right thing and using the right bin.

Useful Tips for the festival weekend:

  • BYO reusable drink bottle or purchase one from Central Highlands Water.
  • BYO coffee cup, shopping bag, etc.
  • Follow the instructions of our Litter Super Heroes.
  • Don’t drop your rubbish on the ground – waste stations are located in the gardens.
  • Avoid bringing any soft plastics (plastic bottles, bags, etc).

Botanical Gardens Closures

In preparation for this year’s Begonia Display, the conservatory will be closed from 11 February 2019 for building maintenance and the installation of the Begonias. The conservatory will re-open at 10am on Saturday 9 March 2019.

Public access into the Ballarat Botanical Gardens will be closed from 8am, Monday 4 March to allow for the Ballarat Begonia Festival set-up. The gardens will re-open at 10am on Saturday 9 March 2019. Parts of the gardens will also be closed to public access on 12 and 13 March to allow safe removal of festival infrastructure.

Users of the Adam Lindsay Gordon Craft Cottage are advised the cottage will remain open as usual and can be accessed via the Northern Gate.
